HEAP Summer Crisis Program Begins July 2nd, 2018 ( Tuesday)

The LEADS and Ohio Development Services Agency will help income-eligible Ohioans stay cool during the hot summer months. The Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program provides eligible Ohioans assistance paying an electric bill. The program runs from July 1 until August 31, 2018.

In 2017 more than 131 families in Licking County were assisted through the Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program.

The Summer Crisis Program provides assistance to low-income households with an elderly member (60 years or older), or households that can provide physician documentation that cooling assistance is needed for a household member’s health. This can include lung disease; Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease; or asthma, which affects more than 850,000 Ohioans, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Eligible households can receive up to $300, if they are a customer of a regulated utility, or $500, if they are a customer of unregulated utilities such as electric cooperatives and municipal utilities. The assistance is applied to their utility bill or applied to central air conditioning repair costs. Ohioans must have a gross income at or below 175 percent of the federal poverty guidelines to qualify for assistance. For a family of four the annual income must be at or below $42,525.00.

Ohioans enrolled in the Percentage of Income Payment Plan Plus Program (PIPP Plus) or have a PIPP Default are not eligible for bill payment assistance through the program but are encouraged to work with LEADS to identify other opportunities for assistance.

2018-2019 CSBG Grant Elected Officials Notice

The CSBG program funded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services provides support for a number of important services to low-income residents throughout Licking county.
This memo is to notify you that the LEADS PY 2018-2019 CSBG application to the State of Ohio will be available for review, December 13, 2017. A Copy 0f this application can be reviewed at LEADS Administration, Office, 159 Wilson Street, Newark Ohio between 10:00am and 3:00pm on the above date. Please call 740-258-6112 or email Terry Boehm at tboehm@leadscaa.org for an appointment.
Any written comments you any have regarding the application should be received by this office no later than 12:00pm, Friday, December 15, 2017. Your comments will be reviewed by this agency and forwarded to the Ohio Development Services Agency; Office of community Assistance.

Winter Crisis Program 2018 – State Partners with Local Organizations to help Ohioans Stay Warm

HEAP Winter Crisis Program Begins November 1
LEADS and the Ohio Development Service Agency will help eligible Ohioans stay worm during the cold winter months. The Home Energy Assistance Winter Crisis Program provides eligible Ohioans heating assistance if they are disconnected from their heating source, threatened with disconnection or if they have less than 25 percent supply of bulk fuel. The program runs from November 1, 2017 until March 31, 2018.

The Ohio Development Services Agency and LEADS will help income-eligible Ohioans stay cool during the hot summer months. The Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program provides eligible Ohioans assistance paying an electric bill. The program runs from July 3 until August 31, 2017.

“July and August can be two extremely hot months in Ohio, and that can take a toll on older Ohioans and Ohioans with breathing conditions,” said David Goodman, director of the Ohio Development Services Agency.

In 2016 more than 139 families in Licking County were assisted through the Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program.

“It’s important that our seniors receive this assistance during the hottest days of Summer”.
